Security is a serious concern for information technology professionals. Recognizing that system users want quick access and high performance, the ideal security plan needs to be effective and transparent. The Readi System has achieved these goals as well as providing a very thorough and powerful security scheme that is easy to implement and manage.
Database Access Security
The database is the logical starting point for a security plan. The Readi System design philosophy of a "strong" database extends into our approach to security. The database acts as the information store and enforces referential integrity of that information. Therefore the database objects: tables, procedures, and views are assigned appropriate permissions using the RDBMS.
A core facet of the security approach is proper identification of the user. A system user must have an account defined on the database. This account is used to join roles, assign permissions, and track functions performed in the system. Readi provides several options when implementing security.
Application Access
The application security begins with defining security groups within the Readi System. Security groups are then granted functional rights and assigned adjustment credit limits per Readi System Entity. Users must be defined in the system and assigned to a Readi System security group. Once assigned to a group, the user assumes the rights of that group. A user can be member of multiple groups, gaining access to the union of the groups.
Users must login to the Readi System. The user login identifies the user to the system for authentication and auditing purposes. The Readi System determines the functional rights assigned to that user via their security group.
